InDesign magazine recently featured my work in its "Fan Club" column, in which a well-known designer is asked to select a new artist to introduce. Thank you to my friend and mentor, George Sawyer, for selecting me! Check out the September/October issue of the magazine to see the column, written by Beth Bernstein.
"George Sawyer raves about the narrative style and Americana flavor of Susan Elnora Frerichs’ designs."
Check out page 43 of the July issue of Lapidary Journal's Jewelry Artist magazine! My work is featured in Annie Osburn's "Trends" column, which focuses this month on animal forms.
This weekend (April 15 - 17), downtown St. Paul's RiverCentre will host the American Craft Council show! Over 240 local and national artists and craftspeople will be participating; details can be found here. On Friday and Saturday, I'll be working with Stephen Vincent Design at Booth #2100, and I will be showing a selection of my own work as well. Hope to see you there!
I am drawn to imagery that reflects a connection to spirit, awareness, curiosity, and playfulness. I'm interested in exploring the idea that jewelry can fulfill roles beyond that of adornment; it also acts as a visual and tactile manifestation of memories, dreams, and intentions. Jewelry can become a powerful symbol of personal mythos, as well as a reminder to cultivate presence and openness. My work, while often stirring unique individual associations, also tends to point to our essential connectedness and a certain shared experience of the world.
